Following the early success of the LHC with the discovery of a Higgs boson in 2012, the LHC experiments have resumed data taking in summer 2015 at a c.o.m. record energy of 13 TeV. The seminar will provide an overview of the present status and performances of CMS detector and will show preliminary physics results at 13 TeV. While a new search window of Beyond the Standard Model is now open with the recent accelerator energy increase, the High Luminosity LHC (identified as the future HEP priority from the European Strategy and US Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panels) with 2500 fb-1 of additional luminosity, will extend the search allowing unprecedent high-precision testing of the EW sector. The seminar will address as well the plan for the future upgrade of the CMS detector, discussing the experimental challenges to achieve the physics potential in the extreme conditions for the High Luminosity LHC project.
